Finduilas: Because uncle Celegorm is getting one

Finduilas: It made me want one! He'll help me pick it out

Artaher: Is he going to house-train and feed it and take care of it too?

Maglor: *looks up* Aiya, interruptions. *sets down her tools and goes to answer it, surprised when she sees who it is* ...Artaher?

Artaher: ...Hello, Kana.

Maglor: I... *not really sure what to say* Would you like to come in?

Artaher: Er, sure. I just had a question for you really.

Maglor: Well, come in. You can ask me over tea. *lets him in*

Artaher: Okay.

Maglor: *small smile* Right. Make yourself comfortable, and I'll make some. *points to the sitting room*

Artaher: *nods and sits down, though definitely is not comfortable*

Maglor: *joins him in a bit with the tea things, setting them down on the table* Help yourself. *takes a seat across from him*

Artaher: *takes a cup*

Maglor: *watches him for a moment before serving herself* Now, what question did you have for me?

Artaher: Well, I was wondering if you'd consider teaching Ereinion.

Maglor: That depends. Does he want to be taught?

Artaher: That's a hard question regarding a kid his age.

Maglor: I don't care for unwilling students. And what all are you asking me to teach?

Artaher: *nods* Music of course. If he's completely unwilling, we can stop. It is just not always easy to tell what his interests are *besides girls*. *shrugs slightly*

Maglor: *considers* ...Send him to me, then. I will see if he has any aptitude.

Artaher: *nods* I will tell him, then. Besides, I wanted to see if you were even willing to teach him before saying you would.

Maglor: Smart of you. *smirk*

Artaher: *doesn't say anything to that*

Artaher: *sips* Yes. Unless there's something else you wanted to discuss...? *is not going to bring up how she killed Finrod while sitting in her parlor*

Artaher: *relieved somewhat by this; nods slowly in acknowledgement*

Maglor: *offers him her hand* I might be considered mad by many, but I do keep my word.

Artaher: *takes it* Yes. I know.

Maglor: ...If it helps you sleep better, I killed your brother out of love.

Artaher: ...That hardly makes sense to me.

Maglor: Well, I am supposedly mad.

Artaher: *mouth quirks* Apparently.

Maglor: *leans in to whisper to him* I'd rather be mad than be like those I know who claim to be sane.

Artaher: ...*no idea how to respond, or even to whom exactly she is referring*

Maglor: *sits back in her chair again* Really, our whole family is cracked. I'm just willing to admit it about myself.

Artaher: *more to self* Aren't we all...
Artaher: ...You're place is quite nice...

Maglor: *laughs* Thank you. It was a gift from Turu, actually.

Artaher: Really? Mmm. I've just taken over bits of his palace.

Maglor: He's such a pushover.

Artaher: *smiles a bit* Well, and it's not like he -lives- there...

Maglor: Well, on occasion I think he uses his rooms, but that's true.

Artaher: I thought about getting a place but...*shrugs*

Maglor: Who'd want to give up a palace?

Artaher: True. *shrugs again*

Maglor: Hmmn. *muses* May I give you one piece of advice, Artaher?

Artaher: I suppose so, yes.

Maglor: Never take any advice at face value. Not mine, not Turgon's, not uncle Nolo's, no ones. Anyone who gives advice does so for their own purposes and cannot be trusted at face value.

Artaher: ...Alright. *how ironic*

Maglor: *grins* Let me know when you figure out my motive for telling you that.

Artaher: Heh, I will. Maybe.

Orodreth: Well, I was hoping for two things. First, to see your list of properties and second, to borrow some books.

Turgon: Easy enough! *sets down his pen to look for the list* Which books?

Orodreth: Well...as it happens, Ereinion has shown up here only...young.

Turgon: Young?

Orodreth: As in, teenaged.

Turgon: How did that happen?

Orodreth: *shrugs* Eru-sneeze?

Turgon: ...good point. So that's what the books are f-- oh here you are. *pulls out the property list* I should talk to Noniel about her filing *shakes head*

Orodreth: *nods, and takes the list*

Turgon: What are you looking for?

Orodreth: An easy-keeper.

Turgon: For... you?

Orodreth: ...Who else would it be for?

Turgon: *shrugs* I thought you were happy living in the palace?

Orodreth: Well, yes but I feel slightly guilty for having taken it over from you. Or that your parents did. >.>

Turgon: Please, cousin, you know I'd have told you if it bothered me. ...besides, Idril is much worse.

Orodreth: *little laugh* Alright then, but don't say I didn't try when a certain adolescent tears into your office.

Turgon: *points out* He'd have to tear across the town square and to my tower first. But. I wouldn't mind.

Orodreth: I wouldn't put it past him. The distance isn't -that- great.

Turgon: Many. What sort of books do you want for him? Teaching? Entertainment? Both? You should just send him by at some point to pick them out for himself.

Orodreth: The former, and I think if I left him to pick them out himself, he'd hardly learn a thing. But I'll send him by for the latter, sometime.

Turgon: *laughs* True enough. So. History? Language? Mathematics? You should ask Kana to teach him music. She's good with bot h history and languages, too, often teaching them through the songs she picks.

Orodreth: *nods* Some of each, I should think. Do you think Maedhros would be willing to teach him swordsmanship?

Turgon: Definitely. I was going to suggest my adar, but Maedhros might be a better choice.

Orodreth: I did think of your adar too. Perhaps he would practice with Ereinion? I'm sure that he'd enjoy that.

Turgon: *nods* But Maedhros is more patient, and probably the better teacher. *definitely recieved more than his fair share of swats from his adar when learning to use his sword*

Orodreth: Yeah, that was my thought too...

Turgon: Well, you seem to have thought it through. Why even ask me?

Orodreth: To make sure I'm not forgetting something important?

Turgon: I'm sure you're fine

Orodreth: Alright then...*gathers a variety of books*

Turgon: *smiles* If you need my help with anything else with him, let me know, of course.

Orodreth: *doesn't foresee it - did manage the first time >.> but nods* Sure. *jokes* Have your spies tell me if he finds your margarita fountain.

Turgon: If he does, I'll make him drink so much that he'll be sick for a week after and never want to touch it again. *teases*

Noni: Well, our time is a warring one as well... And we're not really very close to any of the countries that could be allies, but I was trying to convince my father to forge those relations once again... *shrugs* But I'm a girl and too headstrong, so he tends to look over my suggestions.

Arta: Mmm. *wonders if war ever ceases in this land* That sounds rather like my female cousing and my sister.

Noni: Oh?

Arta: Both a very stubborn.

Noni: *little laugh* sometimes it's not the easiest thing to be... *shrugs* But I have to try, for the people if nothing else.

Arta: That is good of you though. Being a lord - or close to one - in a time of war is never easy, I deem.

Noni: *little nod and sips her drink* Losing our parents like this is a little harder, especially because I'm not sure if we'll make it back to see them again.

Well, my little trip to Barad Eithel got extended because Uncle Nolo and Maedhros had to leave suddenly. So I stayed. Which was nice. Now Aunt Anaire and I are back for the wedding.

Orodreth: *coughs* ...Princess Fin then... *tries not stare at her strangely* Would you like to come up to the office with me, and I can show you a list of places?

Fin: list, please. It's in that huge tower, isn't it? I've spent all day pushing giant boxes of tea around, I don't want to go walking up an entire tower now

Orodreth: Well, I don't have the list memorized, but if you'd like to wait a moment, I can retrieve it?

Fin: *takes a seat with an expectant look*

Orodreth: *goes off to get file, thinking that HIS Finduilas is much better behaved >.> *

Fin: *taking a little nap with her knees pulled up and forehead resting on them when Orodreth gets back* *has had a very busy few days*

Orodreth: *clears his throat* Lady Fin?

Fin: *head snaps up* PRINCESS Fin. *takes a moment to register what's going on after that*

Orodreth: ...Right.

Fin: ...so! Houses.

Orodreth: Houses. Yes, here is a list of what is available...*hands it to her*

Fin: *looks it over* ... What language is this?

Orodreth: Oh! Sindarin. I'm sorry. I'll give you a summary.

Fin: eyes so fuzzy. *hasn't had a bed for two days* I have a brother. He needs a room.

Orodreth: *nods* Perfectly do-able. *describes briefly the two-bedroom places*

Fin: kay

Orodreth: ...Any particular one that sounds like it would suit you?

Fin: That one. *points a little randomly, but tries to sound authorative*

Orodreth: Okay. *pulls out another piece of paper for her to fill out* Just fill in this sheet and I'll sign it.

Fin: *writes slowly, trying to stay awake*

Orodreth: Are you alright, lady Fin?

Fin: *mutters* Princess.

Orodreth: *Whatever; wouldn't even call Aredhel princess*

Orodreth: *signs paper when she's done* There. Everything should be set.

Fin: Present it to me!

Orodreth: Um, yes of course. I'll lead you there.

Fin: *stumbles along behind*

Orodreth: *stops in front of the house* Here we are.

Fin: ...there's a bed inside?

Orodreth: .............Yeeeeeeees...

Fin: ...*confused look at him*

Orodreth: *sigh* Opens the door for her. Your new home, lady.

Arta: *greets cousin*

Turgon: Orodreth? Hi. I was wondering when I'd run into you

Arta: Well, I haven't been here very long.

Turgon: Well, no, but most people come to see me as soon as they come to my city.

Arta: *laughs a little* Sorry.

Turgon: No worries. Adar told me you were here.

Arta: *nods* I've been staying with him.

Turgon: In my palace, which I've been kicked out of. *grins* Are you happy there?

Arta: Kicked out of? And yes, so far.

Turgon: That's a long story. Basically I'm living in my tower, now.

Arta: *amused*

Turgon: It's not so bad. I spend most of the time there, anyway.

Arta: Will you give me the grand tour of this place?

Turgon: I certainly can. Is there anything in particular you'd like to start with?

Arta: *shakes head*

Turgon: Let's start with the fountains, perhaps?

Arta: *nods* Okay.

Turgon: I don't know if anyone's told you yet, but the fountains here in the king's square have been blessed by Eru

Arta: Oh? Everyone's neglected that piece of information...

Turgon: You'll see. *leads him there* These are certainly not the normal type of fountain.

Arta: *follows*

Turgon: *arrives to the square, going to stand near the skittle fountain* For some reason, the margarita fountain is the most popular here.

Arta: Margarita fountain??

Turgon: Oh yes. Come on. *tugs Arta over to it* It's a type of alcoholic beverage. I'm afraid I didn't bring any glasses, though

Arta: Cousin you're so unprepared!

Turgon: I wasn't expecting to come here right now. It just means you'll have to come back later.

Arta: I suppose so.

Turgon: There's usually someone around, so it's a good place to be if you want to meet people. *smiles* Plus free booze.

Arta: *laughs* I'll keep that in mind.

Turgon: It's also not far from either my tower *points* or the palace *points* Nice and central.

Arta: *looks as Turu points, nodding*

Turgon: Let's... *considers* Let's go past the gardens next.

Arta: Okay.

Turgon: *takes Arta by the arm and guides him along* The road we're on now is the Alley of Roses. The King's Gardens are to our right.

Arta: Very pretty.

Turgon: A lot of people enjoy taking evening walks there. My mother, I know, is fond of them.

Arta: *nods* I can imagine why.

Turgon: They're also a great place for a midnight rendezvous, if you're into that sort of thing. *grins*

Arta: Cousin! *turns slightly red*

Turgon: *laughs* Alright, forget I said anything. You always were a prude, Arta.

Arta: *clears throat and shrugs*

Turgon: It's cute. Want to go see the markets?

Arta: *nods* Yes, let's.

Turgon: *turns a corner and leads them down the road to the greater marketplace*

Arta: *follows, looking around and trying to memorize*

Turgon: Feeling a little less lost yet? *warm smile* Ah, here we are. *walks into the very busy greater marketplace* This is where all our large and permanent shops are.

Arta: A little. *looks around* Wow...very nice.

Turgon: If you're ever up for something a little weird, check out the Vardabucks. They have something called "coffee" which is a real life saver.

Arta: Coffee? Okay...

Turgon: Oh, and make sure to get some cookies from Glorfindel. They are incredible.

Arta: *laughs* Alright.

Turgon: He's cute, too, if you're looking... *teasing*

Arta: Turu! *shakes head*

Turgon: *laughs* Sorry. Come, if we can manage to get through here I'll take you down to the lesser market. *tugs on Arta's arm and starts wandering through the crowds*

Arta: It's a nice city you've built here, cousin.

Turgon: Thank you. Finrod tells me you've helped with his?

Arta: Ah, a little.

Turgon: *smiles* He's here somewhere, too, you know.

Arta: *nods* That's what your adar said, but I haven't seen him yet.

Turgon: He keeps getting distracted by carving things. I haven't seen him a lot lately, either.

Arta: Not surprising. He'll turn up eventually, like he always does.

Turgon: That he does. *secretive smile* I know too well.

Arta: Me too. *not thinking THAT is what Turu means*

Turgon: *chuckles a little at Arta's innocence*

Turgon: Ah, here we are. *leads Arta into the smaller market* As you can see, this is more our farmer's market. Where local growers and craftsman show their goods.

Arta: *nods*

Turgon: Sometimes local performers will also come out here to treat our residents. It's quite nice.

Arta: That would be fun.

Turgon: It can be, yes. Hmmn. *considers* We're going to go through a part of town next that I don't think you'll care for much. *starts leading him*

Arta: ...Ok.

Turgon: It's the redlight district, we'll just sneak through on our way to the next part. Unless you fancy a shag? *teasing again*

Arta: *pokes him* You are terrible!

Turgon: Be glad you're with me and not Fingon. Come on, if we go this way I can show you the normal fountains.

Arta: *shakes head amusedly*

Turgon: *tugs Arta past the Avenue of Pumps and down the Way of Running Waters* I actually like these fountains better than the blessed ones. I'm probably the only person to, though.

Arta: Well, regular fountains are nice too.

Turgon: I've always loved them. *leads Arta into the midst of them* I think this is my favourite place in the city. *points to one of the houses across the roadway from the fountains* That is the house that Kana plans to move into. I can arrange to get you one too, if you'd like?

Arta: *likes it too* Oh! Um...maybe. I haven't thought that far ahead.

Turgon: No worries, let me know if you decide.

Arta: *nods* I will.

Turgon: Good. Now come, I will walk you past the main gate up to the Arch of Ingwe

Arta: *follows*

Turgon: Are you planning on staying here long? What of your children? How are they?

Arta: Oh! They're well. Yes, very well. Quite grown up.

Turgon: So's my Idril. You know, I can't remember the last time I've seen yours... Ereinion and Finduilas, right?

Arta: *nods* Right. And it's been a very long time...As I recall, Ereinion was quite young at the time.

Turgon: *quietly* It was good of you to take him. I don't know if my brother ever properly thanked you.

Arta: Really, it was no problem. And it doesn't matter, he doesn't need to thank me "properly".

Turgon: You are too good, Arta. *smiles*

Arta: *shrugs* Maybe.

Turgon: Here. *directs Arta's direction towards the main gate* You can see the last of our seven gates.

Arta: Very nice.

Turgon: Thank you. Now let's head to the Arch of Ingwe and the Folkwell.

Arta: *nods*

Turgon: *leads on!* What have you been up to, anyway? What brought you to Gondolin? Obviously you did not come in through the gates or the guards would have told me so.

Arta: *shrugs* Got lost? *grin* I certainly didn't think to end up here.

Turgon: *laughs* Well, you're welcome anyway. Have you run into any of our other cousins, yet? Or my brother?

Arta: Just Maitimo, briefly.

Turgon: Oh? I'm sorry. *chuckles* I'd recommend staying away from Kana for now. *gestures to the cut on his cheek* She's been grumpy.

Arta: Mmm, will do then.

Turgon: *leads Arta through the Arch of Ingwe* And here we are in the Square of the Folkwell. It's mostly houses around this area.

Arta: *nods*

Turgon: Well, then we should finish our tour. *leads Arta down the Road of Arches back to the King's Square* Hopefully that'll help keep you from getting lost, at least

Arta: Hopefully. Thanks cousin.

Turgon: Anytime. *grin*
